Role, benefits & use
All about Vitamin C
Vitamin C, or L-ascorbic acid, is probably the best-known vitamin — and one of the most useful. Water-soluble, it is neither produced nor stored by the body: a daily intake is therefore necessary. Its functions are widely recognised by EFSA: it contributes to normal collagen formation (for the skin, bones, cartilage and blood vessels), to the normal function of the immune system, to the reduction of fatigue, to the protection of cells against oxidative stress and to better iron absorption.
It is precisely for its role as a cofactor of collagen that vitamin C systematically accompanies our marine-collagen-based formulas: without it, the body cannot correctly synthesise its own collagen.
We use vitamin C in the form of L-ascorbic acid throughout the Nutremys range — beauty, joints, menopause, magnesium and probiotics — for its antioxidant and anti-fatigue action on a daily basis.
