Sodium selenite
Selenium (sodium selenite), a key antioxidant trace element for the thyroid, hair, nails and immunity.
Role, benefits & use
All about Selenium
Selenium is an essential antioxidant trace element, present in very small amounts in the body but indispensable for the proper functioning of several protective enzymes (the glutathione peroxidases). As European soils are often low in selenium, dietary intake is not always sufficient.
Its functions recognised by EFSA make it an active ingredient with a dual "beauty and health" role: selenium contributes to the maintenance of normal hair and nails, to normal thyroid function, to the normal function of the immune system and to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. Its role in the thyroid, the gland that regulates metabolism, is particularly sought after.
Nutremys combines selenium with zinc, biotin and antioxidant vitamins (C, E) in its beauty, joint and menopause formulas, for overall support of the hair and nails, the thyroid and cellular defences.
