Maca (Lepidium meyenii), root of the high Andean plateaus, a traditional tonic from Peru, rich in nutrients.
Role, benefits & use
All about Maca
Maca (Lepidium meyenii) is a root plant that has been cultivated for centuries on the high plateaus of the Peruvian Andes, at more than 4,000 metres of altitude — an extreme environment that has forged its reputation as a robust and nourishing plant. Andean populations traditionally consume it as a tonic food and source of vitality.
Today, maca (often called “Peruvian maca”) is one of the most popular superfoods and supplements, particularly among women going through periods of hormonal transition. It comes as a powder, in capsules or integrated into liquid formulas. Compliance note: health claims relating to maca are “on hold” in Europe; we therefore present it solely on the basis of traditional use.
Nutremys incorporates maca into its balancing botanical blend dedicated to women's well-being, in synergy with ashwagandha, red clover, dong quai and evening primrose.
