L-tryptophan, an essential amino acid and natural precursor of serotonin, and then of melatonin.
Role, benefits & use
All about L-Tryptophan
Tryptophan is a so-called "essential" amino acid: the body is unable to make it, so it must be supplied through the diet (eggs, fish, legumes, seeds, etc.). Its value lies above all in its role as a metabolic precursor: from tryptophan, the body produces serotonin, a neurotransmitter associated with mood, which is in turn converted into melatonin, the hormone that regulates the sleep-wake cycle.
This is why L-tryptophan is a highly sought-after ingredient in supplements dedicated to relaxation, nervous balance and sleep. For transparency: L-tryptophan does not have any health claim authorised by EFSA; here we describe only its known physiological role.
In TotalRestore, Nutremys combines L-tryptophan with magnesium bisglycinate and L-theanine, in liquid form, for an ideal relaxation and sleep course to take in the evening.
