Role, benefits & use

All about L-Glutamine

Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in the body. It is often described as “conditionally essential”: under normal conditions the body produces it, but during periods of high demand (intense effort, stress, convalescence), needs may exceed production. Its value lies in a very specific physiological role: glutamine is a preferred energy source for rapidly renewing cells, first and foremost the enterocytes that line the intestinal mucosa. This is why it is often found in formulas dedicated to the digestive sphere and to athletes' recovery. For transparency: L-glutamine is not the subject of any health claim authorized by EFSA. In Nutremys intestinal flora supplements, vegan L-glutamine accompanies the strains of microencapsulated lactic ferments, in a logic of overall support for the intestine.
