Turmeric (Curcuma longa), the golden root of Ayurveda concentrated in curcuminoids, star of joint comfort programmes.
Role, benefits & use
All about Turmeric
Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is an iconic spice, used for thousands of years in Indian Ayurvedic medicine and in Asian cuisine. It is from its rhizome that its famous golden colour is extracted, due to pigments called curcuminoids — including the well-known curcumin, the most studied molecule in turmeric.
Traditionally, turmeric is associated with joint comfort and digestive well-being; it is today one of the most sought-after plants in herbal medicine and in “joint” food supplements. Important compliance note: health claims relating to turmeric are “on hold” at European level, so we do not present them as authorized claims, but solely on the basis of traditional use.
As curcumin is poorly absorbed on its own, it is generally combined with piperine (black pepper) or with a process that promotes its absorption. Nutremys uses a concentrated turmeric juice in its liquid joint formula, alongside collagen, MSM and glucosamine.
