Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), a major adaptogenic plant of Ayurveda, nicknamed “Indian ginseng”.
Role, benefits & use
All about Ashwagandha
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is one of the most iconic plants in Ayurvedic medicine, where its root has been used for more than 3,000 years. Its nickname “Indian ginseng” and its classification among the so-called “adaptogenic” plants explain its immense current popularity in food supplements: adaptogens are traditionally reputed to help the body adapt to periods of stress and fatigue.
Ashwagandha is particularly sought after by women during periods of transition, notably perimenopause and menopause. Essential compliance note: health claims relating to ashwagandha are “on hold” at European level; we therefore do not present them as authorized claims, but solely on the basis of traditional use.
At Nutremys, ashwagandha is part of the balancing botanical blend of our menopause formula, alongside maca, red clover, dong quai and evening primrose.
